Thinking about buying a pool? If you’re about ready to take the plunge, chances are you’re in need of a few good tips to get your started with the process. What’s the best pool for your backyard? Would above-ground or in-ground be the right choice? Would a custom pool be your best bet? Here are a few tips and tricks to help you along the way – everything from knowing your budget to finding a pool company and having all the fun that comes with owning your own pool!

Tips for Buying a Pool

Sure, you probably know about the many benefits of having a swimming pool. But only you can decide if the benefits outweigh the potential hassles that come with failing to do some research up front. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the many pool options out there to consider, take a look at some of these tips to help you dive in.

  1. Make a wish list. Have you been dreaming of buying a pool for years? You may think you know exactly what you want, but at the same time, you may not know all of the pool options out there. It goes a long way to read up on the latest technology and gather ideas. Once you’ve done some homework, you’ll be ready to speak to a pool company about what you want and need from a pool. They will be able to help you figure out how you plan to use the pool and make suggestions for styles, materials, designs, and even blueprints.
  1. Build a look book. They say pictures speak a thousand words, and nothing is truer than when it comes to buying a pool. Much like a hair stylist, pool designers and builders appreciate when their customers visit with images from pool galleries, magazines, a Pinterest board, or even personal photos taken on the road. They give your pool company a good idea of your style interested in and how to incorporate it into a swimming pool that will fit appropriately on your property.
  1. Research the types of pools. While a professional can discuss all the pool options with you when you meet, doing a bit of research about the types of pools beforehand will keep you ahead of the game. Just like a home or a car, a pool is a huge investment. You wouldn’t just pick the first one you see. From above-ground pools and in-ground-vinyl pools to on-ground pools and fiberglass pools, there are many ways to build and install a custom pool. And that’s just one of the factors. Finishing touches, cleaning and filtering systems, and more add up to a long list of considerations. Getting up to speed will help you make a more knowledgeable and confident decision.
  1. Find a credible pool company. Once you’ve decided dive into pool ownership, the best way to ensure the project is a success is to choose a reputable construction professional. Word of mouth is a huge resource, so check first with friends and family. You can also do some research into local pool builders associations and the Better Business Bureau. Once you have a list of candidates for your custom pool, schedule interviews and do some digging about their building/designing philosophies. A trustworthy pool builder will provide work examples, references, and answer any questions you have.
  1. Build a budget. You probably have a good idea of the amount your willing to spend on your pool, but it’s crucial to get all the information you need from your pool company regarding what the project will cost. Be sure to get an estimate, that way if you have to adjust your plans, you know the resources you’ll need to do so. Regardless, it’s important for both you and your builder to discuss your budget when buying a pool.

Once you’ve gone through the process and end up with the perfect custom pool for your lifestyle, don’t forget to throw a pool party. You put a lot of thought and planning into your new investment, and there’s nothing better than enjoying it with all your family and friends!

bunkie 1 cropped resize 40Over time, many homeowners end up outgrowing their indoor living space, and usually that includes the garage and attic areas where storage is so essential. Even if you live alone without a family, it’s far too easy for possessions to accumulate over time, leaving you in need of more space. If you find yourself in this position, you may want to consider your options in outdoor storage sheds and small cabin kits.

Storage is Easy with an EZ Log Structure

While there are many ways to add additional space to your home with quick fixes like shelving, nothing is going to make the difference that shed kits in your backyard can make. With less clutter in your home, you’ll have more available living space, and you’ll be able to hide unsightly boxes, equipment and more. Plus, small cabins and bunkies built right in your backyard provide a gorgeous guest area for family and friends to enjoy when visiting your home. Here are five of the benefits outdoor storage sheds, especially those using an EZ log structure.

  1. Open it up. Having a storage shed helps you to open up your home’s living space, allowing you to store anything you don’t regularly use out of the way. This reduces clutter and provides more space for the necessities you use every day.

  1. Ease and versatility. In need of a garage? Garden house? Playhouse? A bunkie for family guests? Using a solution like an EZ log structure makes the construction easy. These do-it-yourself building structures will fit your needs and lifestyle perfectly—not only on the outside but on the inside as well, providing beautifully finished, functional outdoor storage solutions for any style and budget. And with easy-to-use small cabin kits, you’ll have that extra space for your house guests in no time.

  1. Beauty inside and out. Some of the best shed kits are made with kiln-dried spruce logs that assemble like a puzzle for easy stacking. Each shed kit comes with the hardware and keys, making it a hassle-free process from start to finish. And best of all, you end up with a beautiful outdoor shed, furnished with all-wood exterior and interior ready for whatever you need it for. Bunkies, which involve no cutting whatsoever, are an especially good-looking option to consider.

  1. Organization. Do you have a lot of bulky, unattractive equipment for property maintenance hanging around your property? Outdoor storage sheds can hide these items, whether it’s a lawn mower, weed whacker, garbage cans or other large pieces of machinery. When they’re out of the way and stored and in an organized manner, they won’t be an eyesore on your property, and proper storage can even help extend these items’ operational lifespan. They’re also a great place to store motorcycles, ATVs, bicycles and more.

  1. No more guessing. Ever find yourself looking all over the place for those holiday decorations or tool boxes? With the help of some handy shed kits, you’ll never lose another thing again. No more tearing through your home searching for that space heater or sports equipment. These storage spaces are built and designed for the purpose of functionality, holding your belongings neatly, efficiently and securely.

When it comes to outdoor storage sheds, the possibilities are endless. In fact, you can have so much more than a shed with an EZ log structure or small cabin kits. From garages to playhouses to bunkies and everything in between, you owe it to yourself to organize your life with the ease, beauty and convenience of shed kits.

SNA (167)Are you looking for easy ways to improve your health? Well, what’s easier than a hot tub?! Hot water therapy dates back thousands of years and has taken the form of the hot tub in today’s world. Known by many of the world’s greatest cultures, hot water therapy was used by many Egyptians, Greeks and Romans who all believed it was the key to optimal health and well-being. In India, the inhalation of steam is often used to optimize the respiratory system, and the people of Japan and Germany have long used natural hot springs for medical, beauty and anti-aging treatments. So, what about the modern-day benefits of a hot tub?

Easy Ways to Improve Your Health with Hot Tubs

Hot water therapy is no longer a thing of the past. Today, it takes place in spas and hot tubs around the world, offering the human body a variety of benefits. But what actually takes place? Why is using them widely accepted as one of the best healthy living tips? Immersing yourself in hot water raises your body temperature and causes the blood vessels to dilate, increasing circulation. The buoyancy of the water then reduces your body weight by 85-90 percent, relieving pressure on joints and muscles, while creating the relaxing sensation of floating in space. Here are just a few of benefits of a hot tub.

Hot Tubs and High Blood Pressure

Soaking in a hot tub is has great benefits for your heart. As you enter the sauna or immerse yourself in the hot tub, blood vessels near the skin enlarge, causing a slight drop in blood pressure, which can actually quite beneficial to people with high blood pressure and rarely dangerous to most people.

Alleviate Arthritis
Arthritis is the inflammation of a joint or joints that causes pain and swelling. Considering that approximately one of every three families has someone who suffers from this disease, the fact that water therapy can improve the symptoms is great news. According to the Arthritis Foundation, people whose arthritis symptoms respond well to heat have discovered the many benefits of a hot tub. In a home spa or hot tub, the buoyancy of the hot water makes it a comfortable environment for relieving arthritis symptoms while improving range of motion.

Weight Loss and Cellulite Reduction

Not up for going to the gym to work out? For many people, one of the easy way to improve your health weight-wise and improve physical appearance is some hot water therapy. Soaking in a hot tub can aid in weight loss, and even help diminish the appearance of cellulite. When you soak in a spa, it simulates exercise by dilating blood vessels and promoting better circulation, while relaxing your muscles and skin. It can also increase your heart rate and lower blood pressure.

Sleep Soundly

Did you know that insomnia is the second-leading reason that people visit their doctors? When it comes to healthy living tips, many people would like to get better or more sleep each day. Our often busy, stressful lifestyles can cause lack of sleep, leading to memory problems, nerve conditions and depression. You can help your body prepare for a deep and restful sleep by taking advantage of the benefits of a hot tub. Soak in hot water for about 90 minutes before you plan to sleep. When you lie down, your body temperature will start dropping, which has been shown to induce sleep more easily.

Reduce Tension, Pain and Aches

Water temperature between 94º to 96º F, which is close to your body temperature, will do wonders for reducing tension and body aches. As already noted, hot tubs and high blood pressure are a great match, but many people even go so far as to turn the heat up to 102º to 104º F to loosen their tight, tense muscles and reduce the pain of stress-related conditions and athletic injuries. The best time to enjoy your soak is in the evening when you can take advantage of your newly relaxed state.

Keep in mind, while the benefits of a hot tub are widely accepted, using one is not for everyone. If you’re pregnant, or have heart disease, diabetes or any other medical condition, consult your physician before stepping in. If you’re healthy enough to try it and looking for easy ways to improve your health, what are you waiting for? Contact your local outdoor living accessories company and discover your options.

SwimSpaPg-Header1_1It’s no secret to us that water exercises are excellent for your body but if you need more convincing, here are some reasons why aqua fitness is a great addition to your wellness and workout routine:

  • Water movements are less stressful on the body making aqua fitness great for everyone
  • Water constantly resists your movements and in fact, water offers 12-14 % more resistance to air, making aquatic exercises a natural muscle builder
  • Aquatic exercises increases your heart rate, giving you a great aerobic workout
  • Not so flexible? Water exercises in an aquatrainer will help because gravity hits your muscle in two directions when you’re in the water as opposed to on ground. Lack of gravity helps give your joints a more optimal range of motion without as much tension.

Aquatic Exercises Tips

An aquatrainer is the perfect swim spa for someone who:

  • Wants a rigorous swim workout
  • Is an excellent swimmer
  • Needs relaxation
  • Doesn’t have room for a pool or prefers to avoid the maintenance of a pool
  • Has arthritis, fibromyalgia or other health conditions that impact the joints

If you’re the owner of an aquatrainer, you know the benefits of a water fitness routine. Try these tips to enhance your swim aerobic experience:

  • Add Bands: adding strength resistance bands brings on a more intense workout in your aquatrainer
  • Ankle weights can really give an additional boost to those legs of yours will working out in the pool
  • Change up your stroke:
  • Try the freestyle stroke to warm your body up and get a good workout. With freestyle stroke, you keep one arm above the water and use the other to move you forward.
  • To cool down, try your hand at your backstroke
  • Add a beach or resistance ball to your water workout for some serious aqua fitness fun!
  • Don’t forget to stretch! As much as the water is easier on your joints, it’s still crucial to stretch   before and after your swim spa workout.
  • Watch your form! Just because you’re in the water does not mean you can get away with poor form.
  • Where the water hits you: it’s best if the water hits you at your waist in order to be sure your feet have stability when you’re exercising on your feet in the water. Your leg muscles will also work more efficiently this way!
  • Try wearing water shoes for better traction.

Aqua Training is a Great Workout, Hands Down!

There’s no doubt that water exercises are great for your body not only for the fitness benefits, but for the relaxation it brings. This is why people love swim spas: they get to enjoy a vigorous water workout or take it down a notch and enjoy the relaxation a swim spa brings, all without dealing with the hassles of maintaining a pool or finding space for it in one’s backyard.

With all the technology today such as self-cleaning swim spas and salt water swim spas, a swim spa is a solid choice for someone looking for a little bit of “backyard paradise!”
